Our first ambassador

Pale Blue Dot

After 36 years of good service the Voyager-1 probe reached the last phase of its long travel; NASA has confirmed that our little ambassador left the boundaries of our Solar system, becoming the man-made object farther from Earth.

Voyager-1 it’s still functioning and it will be until 2025 when it will become unable to power up any instrument, that unless it will reach another stellar system in the far future (very far indeed, it’s faring a bit over 60.000 km/h only and it’s not aimed to a specific system). After the power shut-off Voyager-1 will become our first ambassador, with its famous gold record and by its sheer existence.

Let’s hope that somebody of something will meet it.
