Thomas Leo Clancy Jr. (1947-2013)

When one of my favourite writer dies  for me there’s always a moment of panic, a shake in my inner knowledge horizon. The books of Tom Clancy were important  for me in the ‘80s e in the ‘90s with their cold pragmatism and for their technical view about politics and warfare.

It will take a lot to describe what of his early novels I’ve liked and why, the same for what I think about the last part of his long career as an author. I respected the man, even if we were on very different point of view about politcs and about the role of western countries in the modern world.

His essays about military forces and acts of command in war are still between my favourite readings, to me these books are his best legacy. Once again, thank you Tom.
